A Day in the Life of Kay Vermont: Senior Account Manager

With a strong background in print, Kay brings valuable experience to her role as Senior Account Manager. Over the past three-and-a-half years, she’s been managing everything from exhibitions to merchandise and print projects.

What does an average day look like for you?

No two days are quite the same! One minute, I might be in conversation with clients about their next big project; the next, I’m pulling together quotes or coordinating orders. The brilliant thing about working at Clone is the variety – you never quite know what challenge is coming next.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

While my roots are in print, Clone has opened up a new world of possibilities. One day, I’m helping design eye-catching exhibition stands; the next, I’m organising merchandise collections. The variety keeps me on my toes and means there’s always something new and exciting to sink my teeth into.

What inspires you about branding, print or design when working with your clients?

There’s something magical about watching ideas spring to life. When a client comes to us with an idea, we help transform it into something special. Whether it’s turning a simple concept into a beautiful coffee table book with premium paper stocks, spot UV and foil that adds that extra touch of luxury, or creating beautiful branded merchandise that people genuinely want to keep and use – that’s what makes this job so rewarding.

What are the most promising trends or innovations that you expect to shape your industry in the future?

Sustainability is driving significant change, particularly in merchandise. Our clients don’t want things just for show – they want useful items that consider environmental impact. Water bottles are a great example – they have a good, long life and get regular use. People are becoming more thoughtful about their purchasing decisions.

What’s been your most interesting project to work on?

Exhibition projects have opened up a whole new world for me. my previous experience had only offered roller banners or printed literature – now I’m helping create remarkable exhibition stands. Seeing these projects develop from our first client conversation into something remarkable has been brilliant.

I’ve been fortunate to work with Kress at Groundfest for the past two years – right from the show’s beginning. That first year was particularly memorable. Being involved from those early planning meetings to seeing the finished stand come together was such a rewarding experience.

There’s something really special about watching our clients see their vision become reality, and then going on to win industry awards for the stand – that’s incredible. While I’m not the one physically building the stands, knowing I played a part in their success is something I’m really proud of.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Life is pretty lively with my two daughters – Eliza 13, and Mabel 5. When I’m not running Eliza to her friends’ houses or hearing about Mabel’s school adventures, I love getting in the kitchen to cook & bake. As a big foodie, Thai is my absolute favourite.

Music plays a huge part in my life too – I love going to live shows. Last month, I watched James Blake perform a candlelit acoustic set and went to a garage brunch, which was incredible! There’s plenty more live music on the horizon, including Glastonbury, which I can’t wait for.

Once the house quietens down around 9pm, I finally get a chance to relax with a film or podcast.
